dailies 10/3-10/9.

hi everyone--- it's sunday, which means it's dailies day! despite a string of truly heinous suckfests, there were enough nice moments for the sum of the week to end up in the plus column. yesterday i also went to see the new exhibition at the american visionary art museum, "what makes us smile?" which was great! it was great to be a real human for a hot second.

sunday, october 3rd: "first cup of hot zeke's at the farmer's market means fall is really here."
monday, october 4th: "practicing my literal and metaphorical tiptoeing."
tuesday, october 5th: "hey, everyone: you're nice."
 wednesday, october 6th: "losing focus."
thursday, october 7th: "OH SHIT OVERSLEPT"
friday, october 8th: "reclaiming some semblance of a personal life."
saturday, october 9th: "just because is my new favorite holiday."

i also snagged a whole bunch of new tunes this week, so here's a link to give ben fold's collaboration with nick hornby (author of high fidelity, about a boy, etc) a listen: from above, off the new album 'lonely avenue'. have a good week, everybody!

dailies 8/29-9/4.

welcome to the dailies from THE FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL!! whoa:
sunday, august 29th: "hyperventilate or vomit or both?"
monday, august 30th: "it's official: i have a classroom and students and everything."
tuesday, august 31st: "round one against the copier and i emerge victorious."
wednesday, september 1st: "to hot to stay a solid."
thursday, september 2nd: "stuck at the corner of 'mixed signals' avenue and 'wait, what?' boulevard."
friday, september 3rd: "that's what i get for making an exception."
saturday, september 4th: "my maiden pedicure voyage was a rousing success."

happy three-day weekend, everybody! i love that the universe gave me a bonus day to recover after my first week of teaching, whew! yesterday was a totally work-free day to relax with wonderful friends, eat good food, drink great sangria, and stare at my shiny shiny toenail polish, thanks to a lovely spa afternoon for sara's bachelorette party!

stay tuned for more classroom adventures; they are bound to fill the pages of my daily books from this point forward. have a great week, everybody!

dailies 7/25-7/31.

oh hey sunday, how's it going? so nice to see you again. i have been a super-slacker this week, basking in my unbelievably flexible (albeit brief) schedule between the end of precollege and the start of summer camp at the walters (aka tomorrow). how do i define said basking? uh, 3 seasons of 30 rock in 4 days mmmmm. every once in a while i really love turning off my brain.

sunday, july 25th: "tiny thank yous for giant actions."
monday, july 26th: "don't you look at me, dinner."
tuesday, july 27th: "cerebral wrap-up."
wednesday, july 28th: "couldn't have said it better myself."
thursday, july 29th: "the sky opened up every time i tried to procrastinate leave the house."
saturday, july 30th: "starting fresh."
saturday, july 31st: "walking around listening to instrumental music makes me feel like i'm in a movie."

also, in my "hey i get to be a real human, wheeeeee" time, i both donated a bunch of crap to good will and then bought some more awesome things, including a standard (lovely) scarf, a navy j.crew button-front skirt, a crisp oxford (for the whole, looking-like-a-grownup thing) a DKNY motorcycle jacket and best of all, a dark magenta leather blazer. bonus points (or a secret surprise!) if you can guess what i spent (and raf no guessing you big answer-knowing cheat!). have a great week, everybody!

dailies 5/23-5/29.

oops, the dailies are a tiny bit late this week! not having my life scheduled within an inch of itself has led me to take a few too many liberties, apparently. back on track next week, for sure! here they are:
sunday, may 23rd: "trying my hand at growth again."
monday, may 24th: "all the things she couldn't say."
tuesday, may 25th: "the most adorable dinner party ."
wednesday, may 26th: "standing still, eclipsed."
thursday, may 27th: "making poor use of my newly free time."
friday, may 28th: "helping me feel like i could call this city home."
saturday, may 29th: "do you really mean the things you say?"

as an important aside: i have purchased a basil plant and kept it totally alive for the past nine days! if you've ever met me, or heard the unfortunate fates of any of the other green things i've owned (accidental cooking and inside-out rotting, hooray!), this is quite an accomplishment.

also, i have discovered a new way to display my dailies that does not involve frames or mats (two things i very much don't like). stay tuned for their big debut! sometime soon. have a great abbreviated week (thanks memorial day!).
