dailies 3/31-4/6.

here are the dailies from the most wonderful week ever, aka spring break! i was able to complete all of the things on my spring break to-do list from last week (except for that pesky grading) and many, many more glorious and wonderful non-school things. let's take a look:

i did a little bit of of staycation and a little bit of vacation which was the perfect balance of lazing around, doing at-home things, and traveling/adventuring with old friends. and! today was the first day of the baltimore farmer's market too! what a great way to end spring break (if it's even possible to celebrate the end of spring break). have a great week, everybody!

as you might be able to tell, i was very enthusiastic to begin this year's dailies on graph paper, to better anchor the hand-lettering in spacing/scale. i have a very lovely red sketchbook full of a week's worth of work and then! a scanning nightmare. i overlooked the fact that the grid in my beautiful new sketchbook is in fact grey, not blue, and as such is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to remove cleanly from the background of my drawings. hours of fiddling/internet sleuthing later, and i still have no good solution. if you have one, i would love you forever if you shared your secrets. if not... looks like i'll just have to cry myself to sleep. have a great week, everybody!

here are the dailies from a week that started out THE WORST and ended a-okay. can i just say, not serving jury duty is actually worse than serving jury duty? preparing for a sub and then not actually getting the day off to watch movies and get sworn in a lot is really tiresome. anyway, here's what i have for you:

hi friends! here are the dailies from the last week of school! this is especially awesome because i am posting them on a monday morning, with a leisurely cup of coffee, simply because I CAN. coming soon is pre-college 2012, but for now i have just a little bit of breathing room. also notable is how easy it is to tell which nights i had a lot of things to wrap up, and which nights i was just counting down to the last day of school.

this year's conference was the largest one in the history of naea (7000+ attendees), and i am still riding high on all the supremely nerdy, but totally amazing sessions i attended, and on being able to reconnect with so many of my far-away art education friends. i was also able to breathe the same air as jean shin, janine antoni, and chuck close, which is kind of a big deal. have a great week, everybody!

hi everyone--- it's sunday, which means it's dailies day! despite a string of truly heinous suckfests, there were enough nice moments for the sum of the week to end up in the plus column. yesterday i also went to see the new exhibition at the american visionary art museum, "what makes us smile?" which was great! it was great to be a real human for a hot second.
