this week was quite a whirlwind, but ended with a great long weekend: i had a long-overdue visit with my grandmother and took advantage of birthday coupons, memorial day sales, and new jersey's lack of sales tax on clothing for a sweet new summer wardrobe! man i love a good bargain (or many bargains). have a great week, everybody!

this week started with my final formal observation as an untenured teacher (BOOM), and ended with leo dicaprio's endlessly charming face on the big screen. i had a great birthday thanks to good friends, adorable students, and some sweet 90's jams. have a great week, everybody!

i did get to see beach house perform on friday night and DUH THEY WERE AMAZING. if you don't already worship them, you should just go ahead and start now. a tiny part of me always gets a little nervous when i see a band i really love play live for the first time in case they, you know, suck beyond the telling of it and i can't respect them anymore, but NOPE THEY WERE SLAMMIN'. have a great week, everybody!

the dailies are a little late, because i was too busy recovering from an AMAZING (as usual) time at the national art education association conference, this time in fort worth, tx. thankfully, i made it outta there without a twang or a handgun, but i did consume my weight in tacos, i'm pretty sure.

things i learned about fort worth:

1. their convention center very closely resembles the thunderdome 

2. anything you want to go to is at least 6 blocks away

3. taco cabana, taco cantina, and taco bueno are all separate fast food chains

4. no one actually lives in fort worth, or goes there unless they are attending a conference

despite learning the above things and spending the weekend intermittently in either a humid drizzlestorm or a windtunnel (my hair was trying to go big or go home, that's for damn sure), it was a great conference! full of inspiration and reunions with old friends and did i mention tacos? now it's back to reality: have a great week, everybody!
